24th march update

24rd march 2014: The quarter is over and all the sleep deprivation, anxiety and stress as well as my recent flu have almost left my body. Yesterday was the last presentation and I pulled up 4 tables when it was all over. I quickly noted that my focus wasnt there and decided to rest, watch some tvshows and come back tomorrow.
With the limited action available to me here, I am gonna go against my wishes and play both FLSH and PLO at the same time. FLSH I can autopilot pretty well while my B-game in PLO is a bit worse. I played a lot during christmas back home in Sweden and had the best month in like 3 years but I took out 85% of those winnings and since then, I have lost about 3k$ in like 10k hands. That means that I am inclined to play lower and so I have been playing at 0.5/1 SEK (equiv 8c/16c) with perhaps some 1/2 SEK mixed in. Good enough for me, I played xx hands, hit a few hands and played vs some fish that paid me off handsomely. Up 200ish$ after 95 min play!
Im gonna try to mark more hands and also use slice for EV-calculations. Perhaps I should be even more serious and create flashcards? In PLO I often call a bit too much, especially vs shortstacks, especially on paired boards with some sort of shitty draw + overpair or whatever. I should be able to calculate situations like that a lot better, the other day I made a call that I calculated was like 15 BB EV. It was something along the lines of me 4betting vs a utg raise, a min3bet with AA, flop came like 733 and UTG shoved. I kinda reasoned that a 3x would be kinda unlikely with a utg-raise/call but then that was just a stupid argument since the guy was like a 60/40 and thus have a lot more 3s then most players. Anyways, I dont remember the stack/betsizes but I just wanted to illustrate a situation were I loose money.
Anyways, gonna be active with posting hands etc these following days, I go to Hawaii on the 26th and I will play 8ish hours per day until that and perhaps some over there too.
So I have had 3 proper grinding-days now during spring break and tomorrow I guess will be the last one.

Here is a hand I played kinda shitty. The thought was that very few combos of 34x would call a 3bet pre, then even less would call the flop and then even less existed because of my blockers. I also thought it would be kinda unsual for any AQ to play that way and that he wouldnt put me on 34 either. I guess though that a lot of regs would play any set that way which didnt cross my mind.

_____________Today I was kinda proud of winning an okay amount given I lost KKxx vs J8sxx straightflush KQT99 for 150$ and then the same scenario with nutflush (no paired board) vs a gutshot straightflush. I am pretty sure though I actually did a revenge on this hand

Anyways, sorry to post strategically uninteresting hands but I tried to stay awake and mark out something interesting but didnt find anything really.Tomorrow I hope to surpass 2k hands. Im trying to figure out a good schedule for me in regards to grinding omaha and staying focused. In FLSH I had it kinda nailed down but its in my backbone and I rarely play shitty and if I do, normally the mistakes doesnt cost me too much. In PLO or any big bet game of course a big pot played bad could cost like 10k of good play as makeup. I kinda want to play 8-9 solid hours 5 days per week but if I take too many breaks then obviously that will turn out taking like 15 hours and nothing else could be done that day, perhaps thats fine? I dunno, I think 4 hours 10:30-15 and then 22-02:30 would be kinda optimal. What I am trying to work on now is to think about my timing especially in regards to regs since I feel some have abused me. I sometimes found myself autochecking rivers waaay too fast and often give off that I have given up on the pot. I hope to get some nice hands tomorrow. Either way, I plan on putting in 5h every week during this quarter so hope to find something different to write about. So, one grinding day left!

16k hands and huge loss in january, increased volume in february till march.

Down 3k$ at plo. -1,3k all in EV.
YOO!! January ended, i played about 16300 hm and lost 3241$ USD and 2350$ in HM2. That means i lost about 900 in horse, NLHE and stud hi/lo which I played some and ran bad. Lost 2900 USD in PLO but only -1300 usd in all in EV which kinda reflects what I felt. I was however up 3000 USD over all in EV in december so I cant complain too much. Just kinda sucks because 1) I cashed out 85% of my roll in the beginning of january and 2) Its hard to deposit to the sites I can play right now.

Anyways, with this teacher and the subjects + my increased productivity then I believe I can put some volume in for poker. Not sure whether or not I should play a european site (I have to play mornings) or play 2 americans sites in the evening or whatever. We will figure that out. What I do know is that I want to blog more and put up a lot more hands, especially here when the traffic is not that great and I just cannot fire up 6 tables at wanted stakes within 5 minutes with good rakeback. What is likely is that I will put down a 3,5h block of poker every weekend and being mentally prepare to play about half of that and review + and post the rest with some hhs etc.

EDIT: Woho, just won 110$ at WPN :).

Short recap of 2013

Yo! I did check out the yearly stats for 2013! I am kinda proud even if it didnt amount to shitloads of money really. Played 56k hands of PLO and all-in ev bb/100 was positive! Not to an impressive amount but it feels cool having that "much" data and have a positive result. It is most about how feel and about the future. It feels like I am not totally a lost cause at PLO :). I am also very sure that a lot of people would be displeased with the same result, it was only +3,36 bb/100.

Also re-checked the results and hourly and shit for the summer and that is also quite promising for the future. If you recall, i started very very low and grinded shitloads during the summer when I didnt have school and even though playing FLSH 0.5/1$ and 1/2$ cannot possibly generate a nice hourly, the hourly for the whole summer was decent.

Live I continued losing as usual. Played 6 nights, lost 3k$.

For 2014 I intend to start out low again at all stakes, PLO 10c/20c and FLSH 2/4 and probably do a mix of the two since I can only play at one single site in the states where ill be until july. Then ill grind 1,5-3 months hard during the summer and perhaps 1-2 weeks during christmas and new year. Like 2013 and there I played 134k hands FLSH and 56k PLO. I guess the ratio will depend on how well PLO continues but I assume to put in more PLO, due to what I mentioned above. Doing 25k blocks of each level seems more fitting in PLO since there are a lot more tables than FLSH.

So yeah, hope to play the same amount but slightly higher so would be great with 50-100% of the profit from last year.

CRUSSSHING AT PLO! BEST DAY IN 3 YEARS

Incredible results! +17,6 bb/100 in all in EV, +26,8 bb/10 in actual result :).
Haha title said it all. So I have been running just incredibly crazy since ive returned to europe. I have been playing at a few different network, again, I cannot understand why people keep to one site. I have been playing at around 25c/50c PLO and one of the network is just infested with nits, 90% of the tables have 4-5 nits that have 20k hands+ on while on the other network is just filled with fish! This network was popular like 5+ years ago in Sweden but i havnt heard people grinding there for a very long time. Good for me!

The same thing happened btw in regards to Merge. I kept telling people to harvest the goldmine that was merge like 4 years ago, it was just insane with average table vpip over 55% but then it took like a year until every grinder switched to merge and it became rockheaven. Anyways, my suggestion is to play all sites with around 40-70% cashback, use tablescanner turbo and see what tables are good. If a lot of hhs and stuff like that is important then just do 3-4 days of overall grind, determine what sites are good and use 1-3 of them. It was day and nite this time but even the tightest of sites offers good tables at times, depending on the stakes of course!

Anyways. I havnt played the best poker of my life really but I have won shitloads very very quick. I have just been hit over the head with cards, topsets, multiway all ins-wins and the winrate for the last 5k hands is over 100 bb/100 which obviously is sick :D. Yesterday I came to a 10c/20c table with 20€ and left with 380€. Hehe a large portion of the win though was a shot I took with 133€ at 1/2€ and left with 1910€ :D. I understand that this cannot last and I have to be less overwhelmed over the rungood and the downfall can come quick.

I am about to make a yearly report soon though and I might talk about that in this blog too. 2007-2008 was a great year for me pokerwise but 2009-2012 has been a battle uphill and I learned a lot regards to keeping the stakes low, producing volume, refrain from autopiloting, discipline, life-work-balance etc. That becomes very apparent when you check the different types of stats throughout the years. I am not going to dwell on past years too much but like every year there is something new ive learned. I would though argue that I have a lot of sklansky bucks due to huge amounts of bad luck, especially at higher stakes. Even if I could have had a decent salary keeping myself at $3/6-5/10 then I cannot really regret TOO MUCH taking shots at higher stakes even though some years I lost all of the profit at 50/100$. God, now I am getting too tired of talking. Good thing I just won a welcome amount of cash getting a lot more luckier than average. Now it just remains about 250k$ :D.

I might do something more structured for the yearly report but not sure how much info I want to be public. We will see!

EDIT: Days after writing this I had a similar winning day and just kept crushing :).

Random update, christmas times etc and reviewing live and online poker.

Yo! Whats up? November recently finished and it started out pretty well but then ended up with a losing month. I won 300$ online but lost like 1100$ live. That stuff just happens, I guess I am kinda happy that I won in PLO but also the fact that I have won 4 months in a row in regards to online. Going back to Europe on the 20th and returning on the 6th january so after christmas I will likely grind quite a lot. Hope to do well, gonna start with 2/4$ and PLO25$ a little, or perhaps nothing actually, depending on the action.

I often mention that I keep kinda detailed stats, I love the new HM2-sync feature. Anyways, I win every year online but the opposite is true for live, ive lost the last 4 years in a row. I dont take it as a sign, or I kinda do in some ways. I play like 5-20 nights per year and u know, its very few hands an hour. So if I average 10 nights at 8 hours play with 15 hands per hour then I would have played 4800 hands live last 4 years. I  also tend to play a lot higher then I have played like would online. I kinda motivated playing live to myself that it was fun and I could read but I realize now that both is kinda wrong. Its only fun when u win or if it is a chatty table and 90% its neither and there is very little effective reading going on, these 3-4 second spurs of folding ur cards, grabbing them etc distracts at least me kind of a lot. Decided now that I wont play any live till I earn some more cash that I can "splash around" with. And with like, money to lose, I set the limit at like 20/40$ FLSH or so. We will see!

Checked some year stats but gonna do a review of all that when I have christmas vacation and the year actually have ended. Might publish it, might not. Won a pretty nice 18 bb/100 the last 10k hands on PLO but then realized that I lost like 40 BB/100 the 10k hands before that so.. yeah. Nevermind. ttyl!
