Really good september + Moving to the US

Yoyo!
PLO res
FLSH-results

So september was great. Spend 2 weeks travelling as I mentioned, came 3rd in a tourney and had a nice WR at both PLO and FLHE. I am especially happy about the PLO-result even though it is lol samplesize and I also ran very good :D.

Up 20 buyins after 6k hands, 9 buyins in EV at PLO.
13k FLSH was played and was up a nice 2.55 BB/100.
I tried to pull up my stats for the mixed games (2,8k hands or so) but couldnt figure out how pokeit works in that regard.

Excluded more or less HU which made the results more stable. All in all I feel great about the summer, I checked some stats. So I played 74k hands at low stakes and won a shy 0.3 BB/100. Filter out the HU though and it rises up 0.8 BB/100 which, considering a bad august + very very high rake to be kinda neat. 195 hours in total (maybe 95% correct) and won 7 out of 9 weeks.

At the stakes of 1/2-3/6 then it doesnt really amount to a fortune but def a nice addition for a student and I definetly proven that a) I am still a winning player b) I dont have to get a normal job next summer. I am also now rolled to play slightly higher next summer and the expected EV by playing 1/2 in comparison to 3/6 and 5/10 is not just 3-5x as high but more, considering the rake.

So the idea now is to find some american sites, play PLO there and also play live poker. The amount of time I will play live will prob depend on what kind of studying is required for my subjects. If it is a lot of reading etc then I can easily do that while playing but if it will be more project-based then perhaps there will be very little time for poker. A very good thing is that one of the busiest cardrooms with suitable stakes is very very close to my school and where I intend to live :). I think I will put between 2k-3k and form a "live bankroll" and play some FLSH but mainly NL and would be kinda nice to grow it from there. Play O8 and mixed games but obv these play a lot higher so it might be wishful thinking.

Gonna fly on friday, start school on monday so I guess I can grind some but I expect the following weeks to be kinda pokerfree and priority will now change to be 70% school, 15% socializing, 10% working out and 5% poker.

Disciplined man. Summer-grind approaching the end.

Yoyo! Whattapp!? So Ive continued grinding and it's been good. I had a great day with up 722$, and some others too. I am pretty happy with being up 3183$ in play (2150ish is the tourney :D), especially since I feel like ive been playing my b-game a lot when I am doing some mixed games and also tourneys. I need to keep the games separate.

Anyways, so sunday was up and I had to defend my place but unfortunatly I went out kinda early. Went very deep in a big tourney at stars.es but was a bit spewy in bad spots which was kinda undiscplined but then I went out with 1,5 average stack close to ITM with AQ vs JJ and that was that. Decided that I will only use my fpps/pps for mtts, never gonna pay the 215$ or whatever, feels like an okay balance.

So I was deep in one then and that forced me to play a very long session. You can see that it was 4,5h or so and I normally only play 2h:ish. I am really happy with my comeback, the wtsd/w$sd is probably the sickest (I know its easy to say this a lot) considering the 2,5k actually played but I won this mega-hand of 280€ or so in PLO and then kept my focus and also run a lot over EV (finally!) and managed to go from -650$ to -33$ for a long day of 3812 hands and 8 hours. I lost 450$ in tourneytickets that i didnt pay for but got like 200$ in rakeback so I dunno. It was an okay day but like that I kept my spirits up.

Its very easy btw to keep spirits up when you had recent success. I know success is a bit strong word but relative to my living style etc then I am happy with what I have earned this summer, mainly in end of july but now then also early september which august being shitty. It doesnt feel like a waste of time and I noticed today that I dont get down being stuck 200 BBs or whatever. Great feeling.

Booked a vacation now to Japan and prob gonna bring the laptop but grinding will prob not happen that much. I expect one more grinding week and then that is it before going to the US.
What a comeback, long monste-rgrind

I was also about to post some mixed game result but I was suprised of how few hands ive actually played. I have around 300 hands of each game. Its kinda irrelevant in that sense but im winning at fl08, razz, nlhe while losing at the stud and stud08 as well as triple draw. Anyways, gonna start later on to actually check stats and some stuff, I love stats :D.

Nice start to september: Deep cash at final table mixed game + 640$ in cashgame

Yo! Another week, another dollar. Several dollars in fact! Been kinda dismotivated getting pwned by partypoker but also running bad last week and august in general after a great start. Last week I lost 714$ in play in 12 hours. Thought I played more though :P.

Anyways, I realized that I prob wont reach platinum in september and thought I use my FPPs for tournaments. I got this unexploitive shovechart that takes into your position, stacksize, with or without antes and it appears that you can openshove unexploitively up to 26 BBs which is like 90% of alla tournaments. That means a losing proposition obviously given the rake and that you only square the field but at least I can count the 215$ tourney ticket as 200$ EV and not disregard it since I dont feel that I am a superawesome NL-MTT-player. Actually, I am starting to change that approach a little. Not that I am awesome, but ive actually watched some MTT-coaching lately and it appears that if I just tone down the aggression, cbet a lot smaller then I would do in CGs then I think I can be a winning MTT-player. Or maybe that is pushing it, maybe winning in terms of playing when 90% of the field are noobs but then probably getting crushed when more savvy people are still there. So yeah, given the very high ratio of recreational players then I think i have re-evaluated my EV for mtts.

So, I played some tournies! I was doing allright in all but got it in pretty standardly with shoving like 11 BBs on CO with JJ vs AA on BB, another QQ vs KK and then it was something pretty stupid. Ohh yeah I remembered I did a very questionable shove with 99 into topset on Q6T8 haha. Given how the hand went out then that was prob not the best but then there were some hands I think I played a lot better then my opponents. Did some cool moves. Also people donated chips freely. I was kinda shocked why someone would overbetshove 4x pot on Q569 with AQ when I had 87.

So anyways, I bust out of sunday million, partypoker 200k and sundaystorm+big but I registered for a mixed game tournament. I have only played this tournament twice, first time I won in a 3k field for freeroll cash (think i won 150$ in bonuses) and this time the buyin was 100$+ and a field under 100. It was kinda nice though, you have decent chance to get high up, anything more then 3k$ for first would be awesome and motivating for me.

Tourneys in mostly fixed limit betting structures are kinda interesting. At first thought you would think that it would be a total snoozefest at earlier stages but I thought it was well-tempoed throughout in all that I have played, the blinds feel meaningful but not too big with an exception. It would be nice to slow it a bit more in the later stages. Its waay to rushed and there is not that much skill playing 5 BB deep FLSH or anything fixed for that matter.

I also dabbled with this pokertracking-software that works for all games and I think it would be kinda invalueable and an edge that most people do not have. So I imported the tourney and it got through correctly but I cannot find/start a replay, haha. There was 3-4 interesting hands that I recall. This guy I have played some FL08 with went very deep with me and it was crazy how much he thought people folded. I think he plays winning but often suboptimal shorthanded O8 (fulring is totally different btw, moreso then any other shorthanded vs fullring ever could be categorized. I also count myself in that category, I probably do some pretty stupid things, easy mistakes and whatnot but play better then the opposition. Same thing with tripple draw where I prob do some really fishy stuff preflop and dont know stupid easy stuff like how a 762 fair against 743. Or you know, how much eq 8652 have against 234. A bunch of stuff :D. But I think I play better postflop then some.

Anyways, I lost a freaking huge pot with this retard playing one of the worst razzhands ive ever seen, not that I have seen much. He thought I was gonna autofold given that I showed a 7 and he 3bet an A and 3bet my steal. Nevermind, cant find it but I was prob 95ish% to win a megapot.

So here was a kinda keyhand that was nice.

Link to HH, (7card stud hi/lo)

Not so hard to play though. So everyone folds to me and I see K and 2. If the K would chose to vpip then it it would mean KKx 95%, 5% 3cardflush and should be fine, I will likely have position on 4th. Then 2 is obviously not bad but I have apparently 63,1% vs a random 2, 54% eq vs 234, 51% vs A24 etc. I am fine and in my opinion I can probably play well later on if he gets high cards.

Supersetup really. Nice to get paid the max :D.

Link to FL08-hand
I had 2-3 hands that was very interesting that I cannot find but here is another big important hand. Its not big per say but given the fast structure towards the end it cost me a lot of daaaalllarz.

So here on turn I faced the first real decision. I had a lower flush as well as a shitty low-draw and I was considering raising due to his aggressive nature but wisely decided against that thinking I can be crushed vs a lt of hands and that we dont have all that much fold eq in FL08 anyways. Called and it turned out i was 80% and he mega-binked the river for a megapot (like 25% of all remaining chips) and threehanded. Then we ended up chopping with 3 even stacks and played for a smaller sum. Actually, the absolute worst player won the whole thing which was kinda surprising since he was down a lot.

Anyways, I placed top 5 and had a nice score 2k$+ as well as I was running really really good at the cashgames (I noticed after awhile that I was playing a lot worse than normal) and I was actually up 930 sick dollars but I ended up 630$ so all in all it was a very good day.

Had a real urge to continue to play mixed game MTTs + MTTs in general but not gonna go all nuts on that. Stick to current stakes and hopefully earn some more cash the following weeks before school starts. Would be great to win a bit more and hopefully build a live bankroll, I really want to "cultivate" one that is primarily seen as a roll for travelling and playing live poker and if I lose then i wont mind. Would be cool to make nicer and nicer trips and play higher and higher games but thats well lnog in the future :D. But say its only 1k$ then if I live in california then I could easily use that to go to Vegas, play there. Win to 3k. Take that cash and spend extra on a trip to Florida for the live games there. Then up t 20k$ and go to monte carlo, haha you get the drift. That is since a) i want to play more live but not only on stakes that motivates 10 hands/hour and b) live games in general is often very loose and swingy.

HU removal and paaaaahh + Goodbye partypoker

Todays first session. One of the worst sessions this year.
Just recently I had one of the worst runs of this grinding sesh. Lost 562$ and -135 BBs in 510 hands. That is probably a new record. However, 350$ or so of that was HU vs a fish. I say fish, not bad reg, not over-aggro, I mean total fish. I dont play any type of regular HU anymore (even though I previously had pretty nice HU-stats and feel confident in my HU-game) so now I only play fish. For variance and given the fact that I only have a few weeks of grinding then I will exclude any type of megafish for more then 75$. I have had 3-4 sessions like that now which can be seen in this months stats (which doesnt look that awesome anyways).

Everything comes down to variance obviously but also given the fact that HU takes a lot of attention then it makes it an easy decision for now.

This big loss kinda sucked but I was up like 550$ at best last night so I guess it can all come around very quickly.

Also, I recently became gold-member after earning 1000 points in a month, aka 500$ rake. Had hoped to perhaps sort it out somehow so I can use all my fucking points but no, they will want me to continue to play and basically I will get screwed now no matter how I do it. Apparently the rakeback% will be 60% while playing under the bonus but given the already higher rake at party poker + that it is similar to other offers I can get now anyway makes the bonuses not all that intersting. The gifts are also pretty shitty as you see, ranging from 2,9%-11% RB. I am about to buy a new phone though and I have a little more then I need for the samsung S3...

Anyways, I thought Id make a nice avatar for all the forums, changed it to this, considering adding it to this blog too.

Back to the grind after 3-day festival!

Hello! Tssup? Went on a 3day-festival which just finished last night. It was kinda cool, saw a decent amount of bands (missed some too), drank some good beers and had a good time. First day I tried to play poker (wasnt drunk) for a shorty but lost 80 BBs in 110 hands which, being an atheist like I am, I considered to be a sign from god that I should probably not play during these days. So I didnt.

Now the festival is over and even though a new city (free) one starts next week I feel like staying in and grind. Mostly its due to my still broken leg which makes me less party (if that is a slang adjective in english too). I guess boring is the correct word. Not sure if it is about the soft but constant pain or if it is the lack of energy not being able to exercise. No matter which it is, I look forward to be able to run and then finally play football. Healthy living is the shit.

Anyways,  so I thought I would make up for this lost time by grinding some more. Gonna stick to 1/2 and 2/4$ for 1k$ profit more and perhaps even for 2k$. So far summer is still kinda nice even though had a few bad days etc. I really like writing down the hours spent + profits, it gives you more perspective and motivates grinding even though you lost like 1k$ or whatever last few days.

PLO: Regarding that then I found that making zoom videos is kinda nice for several reasons. Normally I it is profitwise suicide to play popular games like lowstakes NL/PLO with shitty rakeback but at these stakes I dont care about the tiny cash, I just want a "score" of an okay BB/100 after some samplesize. So I have one that I have produced and will upload as soon as I got some non-limited connection and think that there is going to be many. Anyways, these are easy to produce and kinda nice.

Salvation to the disconnects and refocus on PLO!

Tired. Very tired. Last week I probably did more poker then I planned, 35h of effective playing time and a bunch of videos too. The PLO-part of it is definetly not progressing as Ive hoped but been wanting to play FLSH and also wanted/needed to rake 1k$ pretty fast to get RB+ipad. So I wanted to rake on one site but now I am more free in terms of where I want to play. Actually maybe not. It would be kinda cool to rake at stars + party and I want to permanently leave party after I cash out my vip-points there since they are a scamming company. Its kinda cool sort of, ive probably deposited and played with 40+ pokerrooms and even though there have been scandals here and there, I would only avoid Expekt and Partypoker, and probably only the poker-part about Expekt. I think that is a kinda good in terms of customer satisfaction! Okay, naked poker wasnt that fun. Rednines neither. Ohh right PokerNordica screwed me pretty hard. FTP would have sucked if I didnt lose my balance there just a week before. Okay maybe not so few after all.

Anyways, today is my day off. I want to grind and earn some more but new to this summers schedule are the free days, two per week to be exact. Gonna be more hungry to play tomorrow or on wednesday though!
I might have to reset my thinking on PLO. The "silent" rationalization in my head has been like "yeah so I can play 2/4$ FLSH profitably but ive decided only to play PLO10-20€ so FLSH is more tempting and ill go with that". It is true for immidate profits etc but the goal was never to make any real money playing nanostakes PLO, it was just about to get some volume in and try to apply what I learn in the videos etc and hopefully, once I have got a nice winrate then from there I can probably begin the fun grind and hopefully go up pretty quickly. I do think, with my tableselection-skills etc + balance at a bunch of networks, that being able to win at the PLO25€ will be enough to find equally loose games at PLO200€.

Ohh! I forgot one important aspect that was kinda key in this weeks grind. The internet connection. Ive been playing partially under 4g/LTE-modem and partially with my phones 3g and I was really contemplating finding some solution for me to grind since internet went down and not only is that very costly in itself, I got freaking angry seeing the nuts got folded and it really distracted me from my game. That, combined with some bad luck caused the hourly for the week to be pretty poor but overall I am quite happy with the hourly for the summer, given the low stakes of course. Anyways, I think I found the solution for the connection, yesterday I played almost 9 hours with only one disconnection and I think ive just had 1-2 after the change I made in about 20-30h. The key appears to have been to lock the modem to the 4g instead of it trying to optimize between 3g and 4g (which is the default). This switch have caused these tiny disconnects which have driven me crazy.

Okay, I promise that I will upload a PLO-video tomorrow or wednesday. If the first attempt doesnt give me a good video, I will quickly make a second or third etc etc. It has to be done. (Btw, I have 2-3 decent FLSH-videos too but the interest for FLSH is kinda low).

Result of first real grind-week!

Yoyo! First real week is almost done. Had some HM2-problems that for the first time made it totally unusable but luckily I have both a HM1-license and second computer that should be ready for grinding. Pokerplayers are always lazy and like excuses like "I cant play since my harddrive crashed etc" but obviously it is important to always be able to get the grind on. Buy a cheap second computer for 400$ if you have to.
Anyways, the first week have been a total success expect that I will likely fall behind the schedule of 8hours grind but just slightly. I did however fail on the plo-commitment (been playing more FLSH) but I think it is fine, if you really feel like playing one particular game and then play another instead then you are probably less focused in general.

I should probably talk some about marked hands which I do too infrequently. Went through 3 I had marked but hehe, I didnt find them to interesting. Next time, ill do better :D.

So Ive registered 25,1h this week, gonna do 5-6 more this weekend and won s+988$ at 1/2 and 2/4 which is nice and well above expectation. Kinda nice though to ease into the hard grind, I thought I would had more difficulty going from like 20-30h/month to 30-40h/week but I thought I mostly played fine, very well at times.

Been watching some videos on the tv. Good thing with "new" tv's with the ease of connecting computers etc.

Also regarding the connection then I think I have solved it and I also think that I have been slighly over-cautious about reaching the 10gb-limit. Uploading a video or two shouldnt be a problem so ill try to actually do that. Did one that I consider pretty decent for FLSH and then another one which was pretty low strat-wise in PLO but I was kinda restless so talked a lot. Gonna upload these two and post.

Gonna buy a runitonce-subscription and look at shitloads of PLO-videos this week and take notes. Really motivated to become more serious with PLO this week, especially after hearing the result of a friend that recently made the switch. We come from totally different games and the situation is kinda different overall but still find that motivating so maybe I shouldnt ask myself if it should be motivating :).

A thing I like to do now except taking notes is to paus before the coach explains their reasoning  and try to think for myself first. It kinda breaks the passiveness of watching videos and fooling yourself that you actually learn (often you do but not optimally) which was a phenomena which became very obvious when I did some math+physics via videos. By watching you often feel that you get everything in and that you are on par with the coach but then when you try to do it yourself, without the aid, you find yourself lost at times and beeing like "daaamn, what was that he mentioned again?".

Good result given the very low stakes!

Also got to a new VIP-level and therefore could cash out some FPPs so just got a boost of BR and I plan to expand on further sites later on when I reach 1k$ rake at one site for a promotion. Will be playing at 2 different networks that use the same software which kinda sucks and I am not quite sure what I think about all these new networks that you can play on.
